Upgrade philosophy
Island upgrades should reward consistent play without making new players feel locked out. Asteria upgrades are intended to be seasonal progression goals, not paid advantages.
Expected upgrade categories
- Border size: expands the buildable island area.
- Member slots: allows larger co-op teams.
- Generator tiers: improves block variety over time.
- Crop and mob limits: increases production carefully to avoid lag.
- Island warps: unlocks more public visit points for shops and showcases.
- Visual themes: changes island presentation without affecting competition.
Upgrade priority for new islands
The best upgrade path depends on your team size and play style, but most new islands should focus on upgrades that unlock more consistent production before spending heavily on display features.
- Safety and space: expand only when you can use the room well.
- Generator value: improve resource flow before building oversized farms.
- Team capacity: add member slots only when you have trusted players ready.
- Public access: unlock warps once your shop or showcase is organised.
- Visual polish: use themes and cosmetics once progression is stable.
How to think about upgrade value
A good upgrade either saves time, unlocks a new strategy, or creates a useful money sink. A bad upgrade makes the richest islands snowball too quickly. Season Zero upgrade tuning should watch for upgrades that become mandatory, underused, or too strong for their cost.
What should reset
Seasonal island upgrades reset with each new season. This keeps the economy fresh and gives new players a fair chance when the next leaderboard begins.
What should carry over
Cosmetics, supporter ranks, Founder recognition, and account-level badges should carry across seasons. Competitive island power should not.
Season Zero note
Upgrade names, costs, and exact tiers may be tuned during Season Zero. If something is too cheap, too expensive, or too strong, staff should adjust it openly and explain the reason.
